Can you smell the festive season yet? I believe that I can!
In a festive season where over-indulgence is not uncommon, DC Mall digs deep and reminds patrons of the true spirit of Christmas - one of love, kindness and giving, especially to those who are not as fortunate.
This year, its ‘Give a Gift’ charity event brings joy into the hearts of 70 children from the Rumah Charis and Rumah Victory charity homes by presenting them with gifts of their choice, requested in advance on the Wish Cards provided by DC Mall.
From the 6th December to 18th December 2017, patrons of the mall were able to pick out any of the 70 Wish Cards off a Christmas Tree located at the Main Concourse at Level 1.
These Wish Cards were earlier filled up personally by the children, each containing details of gifts the child would like to receive.
Contributors were to purchase the specified gift for the child and deposit them at the mall’s Concierge located at the Ground Floor at any time between 11am till 8pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
A presentation ceremony was held at DC Mall’s Concourse - Level 1 on the 21st December. The mid-morning event was attended by all 70 children from both homes as well as care-takers and representatives; Mr Bernard of Rumah Victory and Miss Suzanne of Rumah Charis.
The excitement level was undeniable, as the children anxiously waited for their gifts to be handed to them personally by Santa Claus and Santarina.
“It is so heartwarming to see how happy the children are with their gifts. I am truly humbled by this experience and from the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank each and every contributor of these gifts. Without their generosity, these smiling faces here would not have been possible. May you and your families have the most wonderful and joyous Christmas,” said Miss Melissa Wong, Head of Retail and Leasing - DC Mall, Damansara City.
Following the gift presentation, the representatives from Rumah Charis and Rumah Victory were each handed a mock cheque by Ms Melissa Wong, to represent DC Mall’s contribution of
RM5000 to their organisation.
After a group photo, the happy children were treated to a sumptuous meal while being serenaded by cheery Christmas carols.
As DC Mall strives to be a mall with heart, it constantly focuses on efforts to contribute and uplift society. This Christmas, DC Mall aims to promote the love of reading by setting up a Community Library where patrons of the mall could donate and exchange books.
There are also reading tables and chairs where kids can read together and forge new friendships. The Community Library set-up is available at the mall from 1st December 2017 to 1st January 2018.
To add to the festive cheer, patrons of DC Mall can also look forward to meeting the jolly and rotund Santa Claus or delight in harmonious Christmas Carols on specific dates throughout the festive month.
