So my friend Shahnaz wanted to try Bamboo Biryani as it was all hyped up on the social media. As usual, we decided to hit it once we both are free.
The moment we were there I gasped. It looked like some kind of function was going on.
Apparently. that is how it usually looks like. Crowded and messy. The first thing I noticed was people were sitting and standing all over the place but there was no proper queue which we usually see in a hyped up place.

Well, to those who want to eat there will have to sit under the tent where chairs were arranged or stand if you don't get a chair to sit. Or you also can choose to burn yourself under the sun if the crowd gets too large and you are kicked outside of the tent.
They had a queue but it was for those who want to take away.
So how should I know who came first and who came next and when is my turn?
Must I memorise everybody's face to know when is my turn? The queue wasn't arranged systematically and it was rather messy.
I was all surprised to see such a system going on but I waited patiently as I wanted to try their biryani real bad. The group who came after me got a place, ate and left already but I was still waiting for my turn. I got really pissed.

I couldn't keep quiet so I politely told them I need a table for two. They literally ignored me and entertained those who are loud. Of course, the rowdy rangama (*a woman who is just angry) in me came out.
I went in front and told in a loud voice (but still polite) to the lady that,"I have been waiting for a long time, I need a table for two." Then finally I GOT HER ATTENTION! OMG! Must I really shout to get your attention?
The problem was not over. The waitress told, "Okay sure, I will get a place for you two" and another couple came and said we have been waiting for a long time too.
The waitress was resolving the issue and I waited patiently cause if this is going to be a fight I rather leave and tapau (take away) Anjappar Biryani. The price is almost the same anyhow.

She somehow resolved it and brought Shahnaz and me to our seat. FINALLY! Another problem arose. We had to share a table with another couple. What is happening?
Am I getting the biryani for half price as well as I am sharing the table with another couple? I felt really uncomfortable to share the table with an unknown person.
So I get no privacy with my friend when I am at Bamboo Biryani? I endured it just for the sake that there were a lot of people waiting to be seated as well.
The curiosity to know if the biryani is up to the hype which others have created accelerated in me. The waitress who handled the food was running here and there and nobody came to our table to entertain us.

We had to stop a guy who asked if we want fish biryani and make our order. We had already made our mind on mutton biryani as we heard that their mutton biryani are to die for.
Our biryani came and the first thing I tried was the mutton. OMG! It was seriously to die for! It was so soft and so tender.
I always avoid mutton as I hate it when it is too chewy. Their mutton was too good. I had a good decent amount of flesh and the bone was very little. The biryani rice was just okay for me.
The side dishes were served just one spoon each and I was not satisfied with it. The biryani came in a big portion and the side dishes looked really pathetic when it was served in a small amount.

Couldn't really take a proper picture as I was already halfway eating and the side dish was served really late. They served onion with yoghurt mix, spicy ladies finger and curry.
Not to forget, my mutton biryani came without an EGG! I couldn't comprehend the fact that I had no egg with my biryani. I eat biryani with egg bro. Please.
When I ordered my drinks, another issue took place. Nobody came to our table to ask what we want to drink. We had to get a guy's attention to order our drinks.
They only serve 7 types of drinks and I could only remember 4 which was lemon ice, lemon ice tea, watermelon and mineral water. The exciting part was it came in a bamboo shoot.
To drink lemon ice in a bamboo shoot gave me a whole new level of experience.
Bamboo Briyani Taste & See Review |
Overall, the place is only good for bamboo and biryani. The interior of the restaurant was not something to go awe for as it was really plain.
The customer service was good but messy at the same time.
Not a place where you can sit and chill for sure. I ate in a hurry and left in a hurry as it is a pain in the eye to see another soul waiting hungrily under the tent.
The restaurant has to expand or open a new branch. I will definitely not go to this place again though the mutton was to die for. I cannot bear queues which are not systematically arranged.
I will give it a rating of 5/10

This is my favorite. I like the traditional way to steamed the rice with the bamboo and banana leaves. I love the smell...
ReplyDeleteYeah. Its different from the usual.
DeleteI love biryani and I can only imagine how fragrant it would be cooked inside a bamboo (does it taste like lemang haha). but with this kind of service I won't even think of trying it. Pfft..
